Common Insured Events
Depending on the policy, comprehensive caravan insurance may cover accidental loss or damage arising from events such as collision, fire, theft, storm, hail, flood or malicious damage. Some products use broad accidental-damage wording while others list events. The wording matters because it defines what must happen before cover can apply.
Fixtures and manufacturer-supplied fittings may form part of the caravan's insured value. Accessories, modifications, an annexe and personal contents may be treated separately and may require disclosure or additional cover.
Legal Liability
Caravan insurance may include legal liability cover for accidental damage to another person's property in certain circumstances involving the caravan. Injury liability may interact with compulsory insurance and state-based arrangements. Check the policy's liability limit, circumstances covered and any conditions that apply when the caravan is being towed.
Costs After an Insured Event
A policy may include towing, storage, emergency repairs, temporary accommodation, returning the caravan after repair or debris removal. These benefits can have dollar, distance or time limits. Breakdown assistance is not automatically the same as towing after an insured event.
