Contents, Fixtures and Accessories
Depending on the policy, contents generally refers to certain movable personal belongings kept in or associated with the caravan. A fridge supplied as part of the caravan, permanently fitted solar equipment or an annexe may instead be treated as a fixture, accessory or separate insured item. The policy definition determines the category.
Depending on the policy, contents may include items such as camping equipment, linen, kitchenware, clothing, furniture and portable appliances. Electronics, jewellery, bicycles, business items and other belongings may have separate limits, conditions or exclusions.
Overall and Per-Item Limits
A policy can include a total contents amount and smaller limits for categories or individual items. Theft cover may require forced entry, secure storage or evidence of ownership. Contents may be covered only when the caravan is damaged in the same incident. Check whether accidental damage, theft away from the caravan and open-air contents are included.
Estimate the Value of Your Contents
Make an inventory of the contents you want to account for and record an estimated current replacement cost where appropriate. Check the policy's definition of contents, applicable limits and how claims are settled before using an estimate for insurance purposes.

Keep Useful Records
Receipts, photographs, serial numbers and an updated inventory can assist after a loss. Store a copy somewhere other than inside the caravan. Ask how the policy settles contents claims and whether depreciation or replacement terms apply.
